Day Events

For nighttime happenings and parties, please see the Night Events page, or check out What's On in O-Week.

Throughout O-Week the Yellow Shirts run various day activities, ranging from giant inflatable rides to competitions, to big-screen video games. They're a great way to meet other students and have fun.

Stalls:

Each club on campus will be out on the main walkway during O-Week, each housed in a large white stall. They'll be there to answer any questions you might have about their club, and will also be recruiting heaps of new members. There's something for everyone: NUTS (NSW University Theatrical Society), Chocolate Society, Circusoc, Puzzle Club, the list goes on with over 100! For a full list go here. There are also many clubs associated with university degrees. Some other stalls that will be there during O-Week include the Arc (for information regarding membership and all other enquiries), the Roundhouse, Contact(information and referral service for students), Sydney buses, and so on.

Inflatables:

Each day during O-Week there will be a different giant inflatable to have fun on so come and embrace your inner child! There might be a jumping castle, or slide, or any number of other bouncy fun items so come and check them out on the quad: you can't miss them!

World's Largest Newspaper Swordfight

Are you interested in being part of a world first? If so, you should join the World's Largest Newspaper Swordfight - the UNSW attempt to have the most people fighting with newspaper swords that the world has ever seen!

Yellow Shirt-Run Events:

Each squad of Yellow Shirts (20 in total) runs an event catered to First Year university students enjoying themselves during O-Week where they can chill out, watch, participate, and meet new people. These exciting events this year are:

They are a lot of fun so check out the What's On in O-Week page to see when exactly each of them are on.

The Stage:

During the day, at the O-Week Stage on the quad is where you will find some of the Yellow Shirt-Run Events. There are also some presentations from clubs on campus, as well as O-Week sponsors. This is also where the Yellow Shirt Band plays some of their sets, an event not to be missed :) You'll find the timetable for the Stage here.

The O-Week Cinema:

The Cinema is where there will be a midday movie screening every day. On Monday, AnimeSoc will be presenting Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone. On Wednesday, SpockSoc will be presenting Labyrinth and on Friday they will be presenting the latest Star Trek movie. On Thursday there will be a very moving documentary about recent events in Burma.

For a run-down on the events of each day, please see What's On in O-Week. It would also be a good idea to just come on into campus and see for yourself: there will always be something going on along the main walkway during the day, and the Roundhouse at night, so come and see where everything is!

Workshops:

We're also going to be running some free workshops, including Drumming and dance. The Winning Poker Society will be running poker workshops before our annual O-Week Poker Tournament.

O-Week Extreme:

There will also be special, invite-only day events happening for anyone who signs up for O-Week eXtreme! Games of capture the flag, an eXtremely Amazing Race, a picnic, and a whole lot more. But I can't give you much more info - it's a secret. You'll have to sign up to O-Week eXtreme to find out!
