O-Week or more formally Orientation Week (not to be confused with Week Zero) is the week prior to the commencement of the first session of UNSW each year.
O-Week aims to orientate new students geographically, academically and socially to university life at UNSW.
Details
O-Week is the largest event on the University calendar with more than 15,000 new and returning students visiting the campus to participate in activities and organised entertainment. O-Week at UNSW is famous for its Yellow Shirt volunteer program and regarded by most as the best of its kind in Australia. Most of the activities at O-Week are organised and run by the Arc.
Activities during O-Week include:
- Faculty welcomes and lunches introducing new students to their faculties.
- Organised campus tours introducing new students to the campus and its facilities
- Social events encouraging students to experience campus life, meet new friends and help ease the transition from school to university
- Daily corporate and club stalls that inform students about various societies and businesses that are involved in university life
- Daily entertainment including; Open air cinemas, comedy night, live bands night, dance party night and a final concert.
