UNSW Cheer Squad

UNSW Cheer Squad (CHEERSOC)

The UNSW Cheer Squad is not only a wonderful university society, but we are also a competitive Cheer Squad that competes at a state and national level. Last year, our stunt team placed first in the AASCF state championships and pom team won their division at the national championships. We also received the Arc Club of the Year award for 2009. In 2010 we will be running four individual teams within the cheer squad: a stunt team (which will do American style cheerleading); a pom team (which will do cheer dance with pom poms), a jazz team and a hip hop team.

Our teams not only represent the university at competitions, but also contribute to university life. We perform at various university events throughout the year, such as O-Week & Foundation Day, as well as hold many fundraisers such as bake sales and dance workshops. UNSW Cheerleading is a great society to be a part of. You meet great people, stay fit and have fun all at the same time.

WORKSHOPS

Want to get a taste of what Cheerleading is all About!! Now you can with our new Workshops.

When: Tuesday AND Thursday of O-Week

Time: 1pm , Meet at our stall at 12:45pm

Where: Physics Lawn

What: Hands on workshops showing you the basic skills of cheerleading, including cheer dance, tumbling and stunting with accredited coaches. Beginners welcome.

Cost: Free!

Tryouts 2010

Stunt Auditions

When: Wed Wk1, 3rd March

Time: 5pm-7:30pm

Where: Physics Lawn,UNSW (Main floor, Roundhouse, if raining).

Pom, Jazz & Hip Hop Auditions

When: Mon Wk 2, 8th March

Time: 4.45pm-6.30pm

Where: Room 334, top floor Webster Building, UNSW

Weekly Training Times for 2010

Stunt team – 5pm-7.30pm Wednesdays

Pom team – 5pm-6.30pm Mondays

Hip hop team – 4pm-5pm Mondays

Jazz team – 6.30-7pm Mondays

All training sessions will be held right here on campus at UNSW.
